The Billionaire

Synopsis

The Billionaire, previously intriguingly subtitled as Wai Roon Pan Lan: Top Secret, is a drama film inspired by Itthipat Kulapongvanich’s life, also known as Top. Top is famous for founding the successful Tao Kae Noi business that specializes in serving seaweed snacks. Directed by Songyos Sugmakanan, the film portrays how a young boy passionately dedicated to transforming his love for snacks into a multi-billion dollar empire succeeds in multiple domains.

The film begins with Top, portrayed by Pachara Chirathivat, who is a video game obsessed teenage boy on the verge of adulthood. But soon he starts earning money because of the in-game purchases. His world comes crashing down when his family goes bankrupt and he is a luxurious life. With his life turned upside down, he decides to craft a plan to save his family by becoming a successful businessman.

Packaged seaweed snacks came as a shocking business idea from Top’s numerous experiences which include chestnut selling, DVD player selling, and humbling events such as being deep in debt, and the tall order of undermining his skills and vision. In Top’s case, the light at the end of the tunnel is the fact that got him to a billion dollar website by 26. Bending his will with sheer determination and a dash of creativity, he brought to life a perennial niche in the snack industry.

Top has proven to be a deft player with empires, The astounding unrestrained drive and sheer luck he has earned is a tale for the billionaire’s journal which gives him the title of being a business swimmer in deep waters.

Cast & Crew

Pachara has the responsibility to visualize the adolescent Top, the inexperienced yet ambitious full of hopes teenager, It is my belief that the golden angel of youth should embody this role.

The father figure brings Somboonsuk to the narrative, who hitherto played the role with aplenty well-chiseled emotions that oscillates between self-loathing and self-claim. Somboonsuk’s softer side of strengths completely epitomizes an affectionate approach.

Kumsuwan intertwines with Top’s Mother and faith issues hinting that a son brought a multidimensional blend into the character that she was wearing. Surely the emotional burden of a family teetering on the edge of bankruptcy is not easy to perform, but Walanlak was competent enough to portray the multifaceted character effortlessly.

Ngamkasem and Lin were full of self contradicting motives owing to the fact that Lin is also a close friend and a crush of Top. Kumsuwan assumed the role of the protagonist’s mother skillfully and effortlessly, which allowed her son to feel all of the super charged emotions and attachment that exists between all the scenes and a ng amazing performance.

Under the direction of Songyos Sugmakanan, the film successfully blended humor, motivation, and drama, while retaining the profound tale of Thailand. Incorporating admirable visuals, he was able to create an engaging plot.
